THE HUMMING BIRDS

The Hummingbirds, Clara, Grace & Bettie, hail from Devon, England and are considered by many to be the South West’s premier, vintage, close harmony trio. With their red lipstick, victory rolls, wonderful outfits and stunning close harmonies, just a few moments in their presence and your toes will be tapping as you are transported back to bygone years. You will be lost in the era as they deliver your favourite classics from the true vintage decades; 1940’s/1950’s & 1920’s/1930’s, with unmistakable Hummingbird flair. They may surprise you with some wonderful modern vintage songs from their diverse and exciting repertoire too! If modern-vintage is all you would like, that’s fine too – just let us know when booking.

he Hummingbirds have been performing at private functions, theatres and festivals across the country together for over four years now. When the world has been gripped by the pandemic, they featured several times on BBC Television as well as radio, when their ‘Lockdown Living with the Hummingbirds’ series caught the BBC producers’ attention. To mark VE Day one producer asked if The Hummingbirds could put together a Vintage Makeover video. They loved doing this despite the challenges of recording remotely in Lockdown and at last glance it had achieved approaching 400,000 views.

Recent highlights have included:

  • Sell out shows with their Band – ‘The Bee’s’.
  • Booked by GWR to sing at their stakeholder event on November 17th 2021 to celebrate the reopening of Okehampton Railway Station, and The Dartmoorline where they met Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Transport. The Hummingbirds then featured on BBC & ITV news and photographs of the trio, with Mr Shapps donning an engine drivers hat and blowing a whistle whilst they all waved the train full of special guests off on their way to Exeter, circulated both National and local press, as well as Social Media.
  • They were back at the station at day break on November 20th 2021 to sing and entertain passengers as the first commercial trains in over 49 years, arrived and departed Okehampton Station.
  • Remodelling The Andrews Sisters Classic, The Chatanooga Choo Choo and recording a video to celebrate the re opening of The Dartmoor Line.
  • Inviting the public to record themselves singing the chorus of We’ll Meet Again to create a special version of the popular song by Dame Vera Lynn, which had taken on refreshed meaning during the pandemic. The song was included in the virtual VE day show.
  • Performing on The Liberty Stage at Twinwood Festival, The Vintage Nostalgia Festival and various country / County shows
  • Performing at Christmas light switch ons across Devon
